Postcard from Lake Mendota

This lonely bench punctuated the view (or lack thereof!) of Madison's Capitol which I attempted to capture from the side yard of a home on Lake Mendota that I showed today in beautiful Maple Bluff WI. Moments later, as I rushed inside to relieve my frost-bitten toes & fingers, a small group of cross-country skiers (along with a couple of very energetic, no doubt happy, dogs) zipped across the lake, dotting the horizon and momentarily obliterating the white-out.

Okay it's not cooked at all. Nonetheless I thoroughly enjoyed this beautifully presented, very delicious "Sushi Sashimi Combo" tonight at Edo Garden on Monona Drive. Badgers trounce San Jose (well, sort of)

Enjoyed near perfect temps at the Badger's season opener football game against San Jose today at (even though the win didn't quite rival San Jose's 38 point spread!). Then took a long stroll up Monroe Street, stopping at more than half a dozen little shops and cafes along the way that dot this shopping mecca located just behind Lake Wingra. Finally, after stopping for a quick break at Wingra Park, we continued strolling past some of the beautiful currently for sale and were fortunate enough to spend some time with a dear friend (and client) that we hadn't seen in awhile.

Waunakee's Schwab Grinds it Out!

Today I was fortunate enough to be referred to Bob Schwab of Schwab Stump Grinding, LLC located out of Waunakee. Bob used a high-powered, $22K Carlton to grind out unsightly stumps left over after three large trees were removed from my yard in beautiful Sunset Village last week, as well as three fruit trees that had died over the past several years (further evidence that I am no green thumb).

Mr. Schwab, who worked as a foreman for TDS for 37 years prior to starting his own business, is a stump grinder extraordinaire. He maneuvers his equipment with such prowess that it is quite a sight to watch. At one point he had to drive his Carlton through a fence and position it into a small, narrow corner where he was constrained not only by the house but by a retaining wall and a fence. Utilizing five different levers with the dexterity of a classical pianist, Mr. Schwab was able to quickly remove the bulk of a large stump that I thought there was no chance of even reaching. All in all he removed six stumps from my front and back yards for a very reasonable price.

I recommend calling Bob Schwab of Schwab Stump Grinding, LLC at (608) 849-4856 for fast, friendly, cost-effective stump removal!
